The holidays are coming soon and what can be better than a purchase from a local entrepreneur? The Hitching Lot Farmers’ Market Advisory Board and Main Street Columbus announce the 2022 “Holiday Farmers’ Market”, which will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon.
As in the past, the Holiday Farmers’ Market, which celebrates its 15th year, will offer an opportunity to purchase local homegrown, homemade and handcrafted holiday food and gifts. Pick up those last-minute Thanksgiving goodies and even do some holiday shopping. It presents an opportunity to explore local vendors, participate in special events and enjoy a unique shopping experience.
A new feature of this year’s market will be an opportunity to help local organizations which are in need of items to assist underprivileged citizens in our community. There will be a donation box located at the Information Booth where items can be placed. Acceptable items are unopened canned goods, non-perishable food items and toiletries. Cash donations will also be accepted.
Another feature will be the 2nd annual Turkey Pardon by Mayor Keith Gaskin and Sheriff Eddie Hawkins, which will take place at 9:00 a.m. at the Boy Scout Hut at the Hitching Lot Farmers’ Market. Be a part of the turkey pardoning activities and get a close look at two fabulous, lucky turkeys.
“The Holiday Market is the perfect time to get those last-minute goodies just in time for Thanksgiving, and to get a start on holiday shopping”, said Barbara Bigelow, executive director for Main Street Columbus. “Our regular market season has ended and this is a fabulous chance to stock up on your favorite vendors’ goods. It’s also a great time to shop for your Thanksgiving feast.”
The vendor spaces have filled up fast as well.
“We are pleased that almost all of the available spaces at the farmers’ market have been reserved,” said Chelsea Best, market coordinator.
“There will be more than 70 vendors on hand with a variety of produce, treats, holiday food, gifts and one-of-a-kind crafts. This will be your last chance to experience the Hitching Lot Farmers’ Market until next May, so don’t miss out.”
