Ready or not, it’s time to get into the holiday spirit! Ring in the season in downtown Columbus with three days of shopping, dining, discounts and prizes at the Downtown Christmas Open House!
The Christmas Open House will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 1 and 2 along with a little extra shopping from 1-5 p.m. Nov. 3. Shop in beautiful downtown Columbus as local businesses showcase holiday items and specials to kick off the Christmas season!
Lucky shoppers will have the opportunity to win a grand door prize worth hundreds of dollars, generously donated by downtown merchants. Who does not enjoy gift certificates? To be eligible, shoppers play “Christmas Music Bingo!” Players search through downtown for decorated storefronts. Each participating store is themed after a different holiday song. Players then find each song on their Bingo card, receive an initial from the participating store, and collect their Bingos. At the end, players will turn in their cards to their favorite participating business!
“The annual Christmas Open House signifies that the holiday season has begun,” Barbara Bigelow, executive director of Main Street Columbus, said. “It is an exciting and unique opportunity for the many downtown merchants to showcase their products, including great food, clothing, gifts, jewelry, books, games, art and more! It is also a time when our community can show its support for small, local businesses, which in turn helps to boost our local economy.”
“You will find those special one-of-a-kind gifts for everyone on your holiday list,” Bigelow said. “Also, be sure to check out our downtown restaurants for lunch or dinner. The Open House is sponsored by Brislin, Inc., City of Columbus, and Cumulus Broadcasting. We appreciate these partnerships with Main Street.”

The Downtown Open House is followed by the 2024 Holiday Farmers’ Market on Nov. 23, Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30, the Columbus Christmas Parade on Dec. 3, the Lighting of the Christmas Tree and the 20th Anniversary of Wassail Fest on Dec. 6, and the Christmas Cookie Walk on Dec. 7. And, don’t forget pictures with Santa Miz Claus during Wassail Fest on Dec. 7.
