The letters Q and U were united in a “wedding” Friday held by kindergartners at Heritage Elementary.
The celebration of the letters united to create a new sound has been held at the school for at least 10 years.
Miss Q, portrayed by Aria Watkins, was united to Mr. U, portrayed by Xander Potamitis, during a small ceremony in the school’s gymnasium.
The bridesmaids wore pink veils and carried pink flowers.
The ceremony was officiated by Ben Galloway, who reminded those in attendance that the letters Q and U always go together. The sound made by combining them can be found in words such as queen, quail and quack.
The ceremony was attended by the pre-kindergartners, first-graders, and the kindergarten classes and their parents and grandparents.
Afterward, kindergartners and their families had the opportunity to take their photo in front of a wedding-themed photo screen and attend a reception featuring cake, punch and dancing.
