ABERDEEN — A 23-year-old Monroe County man Monday was arrested and charged with a June 26 double shooting on Old Columbus Road in Aberdeen.
Brad Casteo Hampton, of 50018 Ridgeview Road in Aberdeen, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling after Monroe County Sheriff”s Department investigators discovered he was involved in the June 26 shooting.
Investigators believe Hampton shot and wounded two victims on Old Columbus Road after the suspect was involved in a previous fight at a nearby residence. After leaving the residence, MCSD deputies said Hampton retrieved a handgun, returned to the residence and opened fire.
“Hampton allegedly shot one person on a porch of a residence, shot into an occupied dwelling and shot a second person just down the road from the first victim,” Monroe County Sheriff Andy Hood wrote in a press release. “The victims were transported to the hospital, treated and released. Both victims are back home.”
As of Monday, no bond or preliminary hearing date had been set.
