Morgan, Norton to meet in court
STARKVILLE — Jan Morgan has imagined how surreal the moment will be when she meets Robbie A. Norton.
The Starkville cyclist drew nationwide attention following her accident with Norton, who in May hit Morgan with her vehicle on Highway 50 in Clay County. Morgan spent nearly a month in a coma and had numerous medical procedures done since the accident. To this day, Morgan has never talked to or seen Norton.
At 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning, the two will appear in Clay County Justice Court after Morgan pressed misdemeanor charges a month ago. Norton, of Cedar Bluff, faces a charge of simple assault with a deadly weapon, which carries a fine of up to $500 and six months in jail.
Ordinance to allow complete streets in subdivisions from onset of construction
The Starkville Board of Aldermen held its second public hearing to amend the city’s subdivision ordinance to allow single-phase street construction. As with the first public hearing, no board members spoke against it.

Pizza thieves arrested
Pizza delivery employees in Starkville can breathe easier. The Starkville Police Department arrested two men Saturday for their roles in an attempted armed robbery of a Domino’s Pizza driver on Sade Ware Street and the armed robbery of Pizza Hut deliverer in Chandler Park on Reed Road on Oct. 29.
Wiseman pledges greater focus to drainage issues
Drainage: Everyone contributes to it, and everyone is plagued by it. The problem for the city of Starkville is how to adequately address and fund drainage projects. During the Starkville Board of Aldermen meeting Tuesday, Mayor Parker Wiseman said the city’s current drainage project master list, a 10-year plan developed by the previous administration, will soon be “millions of dollars” behind if the city doesn’t restructure the way it finances.
