Two events venues are scheduled to undergo state safety inspections today. Club Rock and BJ3, on Rockhill Road and Old West Point Road, respectively, were visited this morning by the state fire marshals, who evaluated each building for proper exits, capacity and emergency lighting.

WEST POINT — Clay County’s drug court is growing by the month. Edward Houston, drug court director, delivered another positive report to the West Point Board of Selectmen Tuesday night, noting increased participation and rehabilitation successes.
Starkville zoning commission holds C Spire tower request
The Starkville Planning and Zoning Commission on Tuesday tabled a request from C Spire to erect a cellular service tower along Highway 25. The commission was faced with a string of issues, including conflict between C Spire and neighboring property owner RMR Investment Co., which said the 120-foot monopole tower would affect the aesthetics of the area and drive down property value.

Starkville man faces Internet sex charge
A Starkville man was arrested Saturday and charged with sexual battery after using the Internet to lure a minor into sex. Oktibbeha County sheriff’s deputies charged Jason R. Carson, 20, of 414 Hancock Circle, with one count of sexual battery, one count of dissemination of sexually oriented materials to a minor, and one count of computer luring of a minor for sexual purposes after the minor’s family members made a complaint to the OCSO.
