West Lowndes’ Rieves signs with Mississippi Valley State
Wendell Rieves always believed he was going to play baseball at a four-year school.
But the former West Lowndes High School standout acknowledged he had to make an adjustment when he arrived at Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead. A freshman season in which he hit .257 and had two home runs provided Rieves plenty of motivation, so he set out with renewed enthusiasm to show he was capable of realizing his dream.
Rieves’ sophomore campaign more than proved he was ready.

Italy, where he has played the last eight years, Bowers credits a solid fundamental base for enabling him to have such a long career following his success in Starkville.
Hopper eager to return to softball, play for The W

The former Caledonia High School and Itawamba Community College standout has recovered from foot surgery that cost her what would have been her senior season with the Blue Mountain College softball team.
Hopper also has returned to Lowndes County to finish work on her physical therapy degree at the Mississippi University for Women.
