■ Rural Health and Lung Study 5K: The RURAL Study and Starkvegas Juneteenth Committee for Unity will be hosting a 5K Walk/Run at the J.L. King Walking Trail starting at 7 a.m. Prizes will be awarded.
■ Juneteenth Parade: The third annual Juneteenth Parade is returning to downtown Columbus. Line up at the soccer field at 9 a.m. All participants must reserve their spots for trucks, cars, floats and motorcycles. ■ Starkville Juneteenth Presentation: The Unity Park Committee hosts a Juneteenth event at 10:30 a.m. at Unity Park, including talks about the history of Juneteenth as well as recognition of 2024 Unity Park Honorees.
■ Hall of Fame Induction: The Starkville Oktibbeha County Unity League will be hosting a Juneteenth celebration and Hall of Fame induction ceremony at Unity Park on Dr. Douglas L. Conner Drive at 11 a.m. This is an annual event announcing this year’s park honorees, complete with refreshments and fellowship.
■ R&B Festival: There will be an R&B Festival at Renasant Plaza from 5-10 p.m. in celebration of Frankie Beverly and Maze. Performers will include DJ Flood G, Robert Damm and the African Drum Band, Jeffrey Rupp and Five Aces, Beaux Pete, Roy Brown and more. Attendees are encouraged to wear all white. ■ Freedom Fund Banquet: The Oktibbeha County Branch of NAACP is hosting a Freedom Fund Banquet at 5 p.m. at the Starkville Sportsplex. Tickets are $40 for adults, $25 for college students and $15 for youth. Or, entry can be purchased by the table for $300, seating eight people.
