COLUMBUS — Three student-athletes at the Mississippi University for Women were honored with Player of the Week awards from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Monday. Golfers Ashley Estabrook and Zach Riley were selected for the women’s and men’s awards respectively for their performance at the FST Pinecrest Invitational the week prior and softball pitcher Brooklyn Rhodes picked up her third Pitcher of the Week for her efforts in Myrtle Beach last week.

Estabrook and Riley led their respective Owls teams on the scoresheet at Pinecrest. Estabrook finished with a score of 169 through two rounds to register her second top-10 finish at a tournament this season, finishing seventh in the individual field.

Riley recorded a score of 219 through three rounds to finish 11th.
The Owls golf team will return to action in April at the Preview at Timbergate in Edinburgh, Indiana.
Rhodes tossed a combined 11 scoreless innings in the two appearances for the Owls softball team in Myrtle Beach last week. She registered 10 strikeouts to raise her tally to 27 on the season and recorded her first collegiate shutout in a 7-0 win against Vermont State University-Castleton.

Rhodes is a talented hitter as well, showcasing a .353 average at the plate and 3 RBIs in South Carolina.
“The kid is something special,” Owls softball head coach Rebecca Oldham said of the freshman pitcher. “If she keeps working, she is going to have an amazing career.”
Rhodes will look to continue her impressive freshman year for the Owls this week in a string of doubleheaders. The Owls will travel to Jackson for a matchup with Millsaps College today, starting at 4 p.m., and will begin SLIAC play on Friday against Lyon College at 2 p.m. at the Don Usher Softball Field in Columbus.
