The first round of the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 1A-4A playoffs finished up over the weekend and two schools within the Dispatch coverage area had teams playing.
Caledonia and Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science had both their boys and girls teams in action, with three of those teams advancing on.
The Cavaliers, playing in the Class 4A bracket, both faced off against Tishomingo County, with the boys team winning, 7-0, and the girls team winning 8-0.
MSMS, playing in the Class I bracket, saw its girls team lose to Vardaman, 2-1, while the boys team defeated Coahoma County, 8-1.
Caledonia hosts the second round, with the girls team hosting West Lauderdale at 5 p.m. Tuesday and the boys team hosting North Pontotoc at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. MSMS boys soccer hosts Tupelo Christian Prep in the second round at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
