Connor Rogers led four players in double figures with 20 points Friday night as the Starkville High School boys basketball team closed the regular season with a 65-53 victory over Noxubee County in Macon.
Kylan Baggett scored 16 points, Makhi Myles added 14 and Senavion Roby chipped in with 12 for the Jackets (19-4), who will open Class 6A, Region 1 tournament play at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday against Grenada at Tupelo High School.
Girls basketball
Oak Hill 55, North Delta 43: Dovie Suggs led a balanced Raiders attack with 12 points, including 9 of 12 from the free throw line, as Oak Hill advanced to the title game of the MAIS Class 4A District 1 tournament.
Mary Beth Briggs scored 11 points for the Raiders, while Raylee Craven and Kate Wheeler each scored 9.
Shelby Boone scored 20 points, 16 during the second half, to lead North Delta.
The Raiders will play for the district title at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Rossville Christian.
Starkville 63, Noxubee County 62: Zariyah Edwards netted 24 points as the Yellow Jackets defeated the Tigers for the second time this season.
Nakeria Scales scored 17 points for Starkville (11-10), while Jamaica Young added 10.
Starkville will face Grenada at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the opening game of the Class 6A, Region 1 tournament at Tupelo High School.
