STARKVILLE — Disc golf continues to take flight in Starkville as the city hosted another of its annual tournaments over the weekend for both professional and amateur competitors. 106 golfers came out to compete across seven divisions in the doubles tournament at Mississippi State University’s Wise Center course and Lakeside Landing.
Taylor and Tyler Williams took first place in the Mixed Pro Open field, finishing 33 under par with 60 points each. In second place came a split podium between the team of Sean Portilla and Dylan Lomax and the team of John Blount and Kyle Gray. Both teams finished at -30.
Kevin High and James Alston finished in first place in the Mixed Pro 40+ group with a score of -21, beating out two other teams in their division. Keith Spotts and Tony Phillips came in second while Christopher Wilton and Leland Mast came in third. The three groups were separated by just two points with second and third places finishing at -20 and -19, respectively.
David Cameron and Todd Loper won the Mixed Amateur 40+ division with a score of -27, giving them a three-shot lead over second-placed locals Andy Hunt and Jeb Cade.
Other winners from the weekend include Evan Rowland and Russ Cain in the Mixed Amateur 1 division, Robert Bourg and Caleb Lindley in Mixed Amateur 2, Daniel Saucier and Joshua Bruce in Mixed Amateur 3 and John and Johnny Cassibry in Mixed Amateur 4.
