MONTGOMERY, Ala. —- The South Lamar High School softball team earned a berth in the Final Four of the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class A State Tournament by winning two games Thursday.
South Lamar put its back to the wall with a 4-1 loss to Pleasant Home in its opening game of the double-elimination tournament, but kept its quest for a state championship alive by beating Sweet Water 10-0 in five innings and Waterloo 1-0.
South Lamar (37-12) advanced in the tournament at Lagoon Park to play Ariton at 10:30 a.m. today.
The Lady Stallions are trying to make it back to the championship game after finishing runners-up to Speake last season.

South Lamar scored in the third inning when Laken Hancock doubled and scored on a single by Karoline Holsonback.
Holsonback had three singles, Kendra Wilson had two singles, Hancock doubled and Jessica Wheat singled.
n South Lamar 10, Sweet Water 0: The Lady Stallions began to dig themselves out of the hole by beating Sweet Water by the mercy rule.
Wilson pitched two innings and Hannah Cox pitched the final three innings to combine on the shutout.
South Lamar had a 12-hit attack, led by Karoline Holsonback with a double, two singles and two RBIs, Hancock with two doubles and three RBIs, Peyton Moss with a double,single and RBI, Cox with two singles and an RBI, Wilson with two singles and Kacy Holsonback with a single and RBI.
n South Lamar 1, Waterloo 0: Wilson pitched a complete-game shutout to keep the Lady Stallions” hopes alive in the tournament. She allowed three hits and struck out seven batters.
South Lamar scored in the sixth inning when Hancock doubled and scored on a double by Kacy Holsonback.
The Lady Stallions won despite getting only four hits. In addition to the two doubles, Karoline Holsonback and Moss had singles.
