STARKVILLE — Mississippi State freshman infielder Salen Hawkins was named Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Week on Tuesday after a strong weekend against Ole Miss.
Hawkins led the No. 21 Bulldogs and conference in average last week, hitting .625 (5-for-8) against the Rebels with two runs scored and four RBIs.
Among SEC freshmen, Hawkins’ .390 average is third, and it also leads Mississippi State through 23 games played this season.
She also turned a pair of double plays in the field for the Bulldogs, currently third in the conference in double-plays-turned with eight.
It’s the program’s second weekly honor of the season and its first Freshman of the Week honor since March 21, 2023.
