Longtime Mississippi State baseball head coach Ron Polk had a statue unveiled of him outside Adkerson Plaza and the right field entrance to Dudy Noble Field prior to Friday night’s series opener against Ole Miss.
Polk is considered one of the greatest coaches in college baseball history, leading the Bulldogs to six College World Series appearances and winning four Southeastern Conference regular season championships and five SEC Tournament championships.
Mississippi State went to the NCAA Tournament 20 times and during his tenure in Starkville, he had 14 seasons of 40 or more wins.
Polk had an all-time coaching record of 1139-590 (.659) and a conference record of 419-324 (.564).
