OXFORD — Starkville boys golf places second and girls golf places third at the Mississippi High School Athletics Association Class 6A, Region 1 tournament at Mallard Point Country Club in Oxford.
The Yellow Jackets shot a 307 in the tournament on the boys side and a 209 on the girls side. With the solid performances, both the boys and girls teams have qualified for the MHSAA Class 6A state championships.

Starkville boys and girls track each finished second at the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 6A, Region 1 meet in Tupelo on Friday.
Event winners for the Girls were Jocelyn Randle in the 100 meter sprint and 200 meter spring, Luxury Wordlaw in the high jump, Zariyah Edwards in Discus and Indya Sparks/ Jocelyn Randle/Emerald Owens/Taniya Turner in the 4X100 meter relay.
Event winners for the boys included Sterling Scott in the long jump and triple jump, Anthony Hogan in the 100 meter sprint, Giles Jones in the 3200 meter race, Connor Rogers in high jump, and Sanchez Brooks/ Evan George/Jejuan Davis/Anthony Hogan in the 4X100 meter relay. Sterling’s triple jump of 50-11 is the best in Mississippi and the No. 2 mark in the nation..
