CLINTON — Starkville boys soccer’s run to a state championship ended Tuesday evening as the Yellow Jackets fell 3-0 to Clinton in the MHSAA Class 6A semifinals.
The Yellow Jackets finished the 2022-23 season with a 15-5 record and a district championship after a perfect 6-0 record in district play.
Leading up to Tuesday’s loss, Starkville had won five consecutive matches, its third different streak this season of four or more consecutive wins.

Starkville girls basketball defeated Columbus, 58-28, in non-district play on Tuesday night.
The Yellow Jackets (18-4) were led by Jamaica Young with 17 points and Zariyah Edwards with 14 points.
Columbus (4-14) and Starkville have both finished the regular season as district tournament basketball awaits.
Winona Christian 59, Columbus Christian Academy 39
STEENS — Columbus Christian Academy girls basketball lost to Winona Christian, 59-39, in non-district play on Tuesday night.
The Rams (16-10, 3-4 in district) were led by Faith Yeates, who scored 15 points in the loss. Ada Farlow also had 11 points each for CCA.
CCA travels to play Grace Christian for its final regular-season game Monday night.

The Yellow Jackets (22-4) were led by David Washington with 17 points and Jaden Tate with 13 points.
Columbus (9-14) and Starkville have both finished the regular season as district tournament basketball awaits.
Winona Christian 77, Columbus Christian Academy 57
STEENS — The Columbus Christian boys lost to Winona Christian, 77-57, on Tuesday in Steens.
The Rams (18-8, 4-3 in district) were led by Joe Michael Edwards, who scored 22 points in the loss. Caleb McCarter and Garrett Weathers also had 11 points each for CCA.
CCA travels to play Grace Christian on Monday in Louisville.
