John Ross Craven’s two-run double started a two-out, eight-run rally in the first inning that propelled the Oak Hill Academy baseball team to the first of two 15-0 wins over Rossville Christian on Friday in West Point.
Gunter Reed, who struck out six batters in 2 ⅓ innings of work, had a two-run single in the inning for Oak Hill. Smith Chaney added a two-run double in the second.
Craven and Reed each had two hits, with Reed driving in three runs.
In the second game, the Raiders turned six hits, six walks and five errors into 15 runs in two innings.
An 11-run first inning featured a two-run double by Barrett Tabor, RBI doubles by Cameron Dill and Tanner Flynt and a two-run single by Ty Harden. Elliot Shaw also doubled for Oak Hill (4-6), while Flynt and Jacan Smith each scored twice.
Tishomingo County 11, Caledonia 3: An RBI single by Cooper Bates in the third inning gave the Cavaliers a 3-0 lead, but a seven-run fourth inning put the Braves in command.
Caledonia (2-7) scored two runs in the first, one on an error and the other when Nick Wade was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Bates and John Leyton Lewis each had two of the Cavaliers’ six hits, while Andrew Huckaby doubled.
Columbus Christian 15, Central Holmes Christian 13: Drake Shaw’s bases-loaded double highlighted a six-run sixth inning rally that propelled the Rams.
Shaw, CCA’s leadoff hitter, and No. 2 hitter McCory Humphries each reached base five times for the Rams and combined to score five runs. Jackson Howard tripled in a run in the first and reached base three other times, and Rowe Gillis scored three runs for CCA (2-2).
