PHILADELPHIA — Columbus boys basketball will continue on in the MHSAA Class 5A tournament after a 56-53 upset win over Neshoba Central on Tuesday night in Philadelphia.
Jayden Tatum led the Falcons with 18 points, and Jace O’Neal also had 16 points for Columbus, which will travel to play Cleveland Central in the second round at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The girls team also played Neshoba Central in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, losing to the Rockets, 63-40, as the Falcons were knocked out of the Class 5A playoffs.

West Lowndes 69, Tremont 58, MHSAA Class 1A playoffs, first round
West Lowndes boys basketball defeated Tremont, 69-58, at home in the first round of the MHSAA Class 1A playoffs on Tuesday night.
The Panthers were led by Jaylon Sherrod, who had 15 points in the win. Elijah Johnson also had a double-double for West Lowndes with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Four players finished in double figures for the Panthers, Cameron Smith and Cameron Ellis rounding the four out as they scored 13 points each.
West Lowndes will travel to play Biggersville in the second round of the MHSAA Class 1A playoffs at 6 p.m. Saturday.
