CLINTON — Mississippi University for Women freshman women’s track athlete Ty’Kerria Young set a new school and conference record in one fell swoop at the Owls’ outdoor track and field opener at the Spring Cleaning Classic, held at Mississippi College.

Young, the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) champion in the 60-meter hurdles at the indoor conference championships, set a new SLIAC record in triple jump on Saturday with a mark of 12.14 meters or 39 feet, 9.75 inches.
She broke the conference record by more than 19 inches, a mark set in 2022 by Cayden Sharp of Greenville University.
School records were falling left-and-right on Saturday, with eight records broken across both the women’s and men’s teams.
Overall, another productive and solid weekend in Clinton for the Owls as they get ready for the Panther Invitational hosted by Clark Atlanta University on Saturday.
