OXFORD — Ole Miss is ranked No. 16 in the first College Football Playoff rankings of the 2024 season. The Rebels (7-2, 3-2 SEC) are also currently ranked No. 16 in the AP Poll.
The playoff field has expanded to 12 teams for the first time this season. When the final bracket is released in December, there will be five automatic bids given to the champions of the SEC, the Big Ten, the ACC, the Big 12 and the highest-ranked champion from the remaining conferences. The four highest-ranked of the five champions will receive first round byes in the playoff. The other seven teams in the field will be at-large picks. The CFP committee will release new rankings every Tuesday through Dec. 3, and the selection show will take place Dec. 8.
Ole Miss is the fourth-highest ranked of teams with two losses. The Rebels lost games to Kentucky and LSU by a combined six points. Oregon is the top-ranked team in the first rankings.
The Rebels face Georgia — ranked No. 3 in the first CFP rankings — on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
