OXFORD — The University of Mississippi announced Friday the members of the five-person committee who will direct the search for the school’s new football coach.
“We are immensely grateful for the commitment each and every one of the committee members will make to finding a championship-caliber leader for Ole Miss football,” Chancellor Dan Jones said. “The eagerness of the Ole Miss family to contribute in every way is what makes this university so special.”
The five-member committee will meet for the first time today. Four of the five members are drawn from the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee, and the committee includes representation of the faculty, the alumni, and the M-Club.
Former Ole Miss quarterback Archie Manning and T. Michael Glenn, the executive vice president of market development and corporate communications for FedEx Corp, are co-chairs of the committee.
The other members of the committee are: Richard Noble, the new president of the Ole Miss Alumni Association; Ronald Rychlak, a professor of Law at the University of Mississippi School of Law; and Ethel Young-Minor, an associated professor who joined the English and African American Studies faculty at Ole Miss in 1996.
Bob Beaudine, a principal in Eastman & Beaudine, a national search firm, has been hired to assist the committee.
“We are excited about representing Ole Miss in this important search and look forward to sharing all of the incredible things about this university with candidates,” Manning said. “We will not rest until we have found the best person to lead Ole Miss football.”
The committee will begin work immediately and ultimately recommend a candidate to Jones.
While Manning and Glenn will also co-chair the search for a new athletics director, the remaining members of that search committee haven’t been identified.
