The Oak Hill Academy football team continues to produce the hard work necessary to become winners.
Now, the Raiders will try to break into the win column.
Oak Hill Academy will step out of region play at 7 p.m. Friday for a road trip to Winona Academy.
“We are working hard to get better,” Oak Hill Academy coach Benjie Merchant said. “We are going through a real difficult stretch. It is our job as coaches to keep everybody motivated and enjoying what they are doing. That can be a difficult job at times.”
Last week, Oak Hill Academy lost to Manchester Academy 37-0 in a Class 2A, District 2 matchup. The Raiders have dropped two district contests and will play six league games total.
“We have to get into the weight room and get stronger,” Merchant said. “In our last couple of games, we have been pushed around some. In football, you have to hit back. We have to be more physical and do a better job of taking the attack to our opponent.”
Winona Christian (4-0) has defeated Immanuel (14-0), Park Place (42-7), DeSoto (34-0), and Benton Academy (28-0).
Meanwhile, Hebron Christian (2-1) is open this week. Last week, the Eagles rallied from a 16-6 halftime deficit to run their win streak to two games with a 36-16 home win over Clinton Christian. Taylor Coggins led the offense with 175 rushing yards, 23 receiving yards, and three touchdowns.
Hebron Christian will play Sept. 23 at Park Pace Christian.
