Mississippi State football’s 2023 recruiting class included only three four-stars by the time it was finished. Its 2024 class has already matched that number by mid-June.
PJ Woodland, a four-star cornerback, was the latest to commit to MSU, picking the Bulldogs over LSU Tuesday afternoon on his social media.
Woodland, from Oak Grove High School in Hattiesburg, is rated as the No. 405 prospect and No. 14 player in the state, according to 247sports Composite.
He had also considered Florida State, Tennessee, Texas and Texas A&M, along with the Bulldogs, in his original top five in April.
Woodland, listed at 6-foot, 165 pounds, joins defensive tackle Terrance Hibbler and quarterback Josh Flowers as MSU’s 2024 four-star commits.
MSU’s 2024 class, which was rated No. 36 in college football by 247sports prior to Woodland’s commitment,a also includes three-stars TJ Lockhart (OT), Fred Clark (LB), Xavier Gayten (RB), Caleb Dozier (ATH), Matt Mayfield (WR), Jay Lindsey (TE), Kison Shepard (OT) and Luke Work (OT).
