Ole Miss senior guard Dre Davis tipped in the game-winning basket as time expired Saturday at LSU, and the No. 25 Rebels took down the Tigers, 72-70. Ole Miss (18-6, 7-4 SEC), which trailed by 11 with just over three minutes to play, finished the game on a 13-0 run. Senior forward Jaemyn Brakefield hit a game-tying 3-pointer with 45 seconds to play, helping cap off the Rebels’ late rally.
Davis led the Rebels with 22 points on 8 of 16 from the field.
LSU (12-11, 1-9) led Ole Miss 19-18 midway through the first half, and the Tigers went on a 10-3 run with less than six minutes left in the first half. LSU led by eight with less than two minutes left in the first and by six at halftime.
Ole Miss senior guard Sean Pedulla scored 12 points in the first. Pedulla finished with 17 points.
LSU led by 10 with 15:57 left to play, but the Rebels cut the lead down to six on a jumper by Davis. A 3-pointer by Pedulla cut the lead down to four with just under 13 minutes left in the half. The Rebels endured a 1-for-11 drought in the second and trailed by 10 with just under five minutes to play.
LSU jumped ahead by 11 with just over three minutes to play on a layup from Cam Carter, but Brakefield, who finished with 11 points, spearheaded a 13-2 Rebels run that tied the game. Pedulla missed at the rim as time ran down, but Davis was able to tap it in to win the game. Davis scored 14 of his 22 points in the second half.
Ole Miss plays at South Carolina Wednesday at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network.
