COLUMBUS — Mississippi University for Women announced on Tuesday that athletic director Buddy Foster was appointed to serve on the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee. According to an MUW release, the committee “has the authority under NCAA Bylaw 14.12 to determine all matters pertaining to the policies and procedures for the reinstatement of eligibility for a student-athlete who is ineligible as a result of a violation of NCAA legislation. In addition, the Committee has authority over various waivers (e.g. extensions of eligibility, seasons of competition waivers, etc.).”
The appointment runs through January 17, 2025, at which point Foster will be eligible for renewal.
“It is an honor to have been appointed to this Committee,” Foster said in a university press release. “I believe it is of paramount importance that we, as members of the athletics community, find ways to become involved and give back. Sharing our experiences and knowledge, through involvement, makes the whole stronger.”
Foster joined the university in 2020 as softball head coach. He twice served as The W’s interim AD before he was appointed to the role on a permanent basis in February 2024. He oversaw the athletic department’s transition to NCAA DIII status in 2023 and the school’s membership in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
