COLUMBUS — Mississippi University for Women basketball star Conley Langford reeled in another individual accolade this week after leading the Owls to their first win of the season last week. Her performance on the road earned her St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women’s basketball Player of the Week.
Langford scored 31 points in the Owls’ 94-76 road win at Centenary College. She shot 10-for-19 from the field and 7-fo-8 from the free throw line, hitting four shots from beyond the arc as the Owls improved to 1-2 in the young 2024-25 season. It was her 32nd performance reaching double digits in her last 33 games.
Langford’s tally of 31 is the third-most points she has scored in a game since she joined the Owls in 2022, falling behind a 43-point performance against Warren Wilson in 2023 and a 36-point performance against Eureka last season.
“Conley is the ultimate team player,” Owls head coach Eric Vaughn said. ”She is a coach’s dream. She puts the time in on her game, in her books, and she is a high-character young lady. What else does a coach want?”
Langford followed up her performance at Centenary with 27 points in an 85-80 loss to Lyon at Pohl Gymnasium on Tuesday.
Langford was already named Owl of the Week by the school for her efforts. Last year she was named First-team All-SLIAC, becoming the first Owl in any sport to achieve that honor, as well as CSC Academic All-American and SLIAC All-Academic honors.
