COLUMBUS — Three members of the Mississippi University for Women’s men’s and women’s golf teams were named to the College Sports Communicators 2024 Academic All-District At-Large this week. Columbus native Logan Pannell from the men’s team and Ta’Dashia Flowers and Katie Gray from the women’s team were recognized for their production both on the green and in the classroom.
Pannell finished his fourth year at MUW with a strong performance in several team events, placing fifth in both the Alabama Invasion and Music City Shootout tournaments. This isn’t the first time he’s been recognized for his achievements at The W, earning three USCAA All-Academic selections and the 2022-23 USCAA Student-Athlete of the Year award.
Flowers and Gray have had their fair share of achievements as Owls as well. Flowers competed in all seven team events, placing sixth at the Lyon College Scots Invitational and finishing in the
Top 20 at three other events. She is a two-time USCAA All-Academic team member and, like Pannell, won the 2022-23 USCAA Student-Athlete of the Year award.
Gray, a two-year member of The W’s women’s golf team, had two Top 20 finishes of her own in the 2023-24 campaign. She transferred to the Owls after two years at Snead State Community College.
“I am so proud of Logan, Ta’Dashia, and Katie for their hard work to achieve this recognition,” MUW golf head coach Benji Williams said. “Especially in our very first year as NCAA Division III members, this reinforces our philosophy of the proper balance between academic and athletic success. As a golf coach, the classroom is the one time I am always glad to see my student-athletes finish well above par.”
