Ole Miss sophomore reliever Walker Hooks was named first-team All-SEC on Monday — becoming the first Rebels player to earn the honor since shortstop Jacob Gonzalez in 2022. A trio of Mississippi State stars received first-team honors as well: junior third baseman Ace Reese, senior designated hitter/utility player Noah Sullivan and sophomore starting pitcher Tomas Valincius.
Rebels senior first baseman Will Furniss, senior third baseman Judd Utermark and sophomore starting pitcher Cade Townsend earned second-team honors. Bulldogs senior outfielder Bryce Chance and senior reliever Ben Davis were named to the second team as well.
Mississippi State outfielder Jacob Parker and pitcher Jack Bauer were named to the Freshman All-SEC team, and Ole Miss redshirt junior pitcher Hunter Elliott was named to the All-Defensive team.
Hooks has seven saves this season, all of them coming in SEC play. His seven saves in conference play is tied for the most in the league and is tied for fourth overall. Hooks’ 1.73 ERA in SEC play ranks first in the conference. Reese, a first-team member a season ago, leads the Bulldogs with 20 home runs, and his .332 average is third on the team. Sullivan’s .347 average is second-best on the team. Valincius is 9-2 with a 3.02 ERA. He has struck out 112 batters and walked just 17.
Furniss leads Ole Miss with a .332 batting average and is second with 52 RBIs. Utermark, who recently set the Rebels’ career home run record, is hitting .318 with 20 home runs. Townsend leads Ole Miss starting pitchers with a 3.81 ERA to go with his 81 strikeouts.
Chance leads Mississippi State with a .350 average and 12 stolen bases while Davis has a 3.43 ERA with 50 strikeouts to just 11 walks out of the bullpen.
