STARKVILLE — The MRI on the left knee of Mississippi State men’s basketball sophomore guard Xavian Stapleton was negative, a team spokesperson said Wednesday.
The team spokesperson said Stapleton tweaked his knee.
Stapleton left MSU’s 68-58 loss to Alabama on Tuesday midway through the second half and didn’t return. MSU coach Ben Howland said Stapleton thought he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee again. However, he said team doctors looked at it and didn’t think it was an ACL tear.
Stapleton, a Louisiana Tech transfer, tore the ACL in his left knee in August 2015 and in the spring of last year. He has played in four games and is averaging 6.8 points.
