STARKVILLE — A second Mississippi State football player has opted out of the 2020 season.

Senior wide receiver Taury Dixon announced Monday via Twitter that he will not play this fall and will look to graduate transfer for next year.

“After prayer and careful consideration, I have decided to opt out of the Fall 2020 season and Grad transfer in December,” he wrote. “I am thankful for all Mississippi State has done for me.”

Dixon arrived at MSU after spending a season at East Mississippi Community College. In three years with the Bulldogs, he appeared in 15 games and spent the bulk of his time at cornerback before being switched over to receiver this summer.

Following Dixon’s decision, he becomes the second MSU player to opt out of the 2020 season after junior cornerback Tyler Williams did so last week. Williams, who was expected to start at cornerback this fall, was not at practice when the Bulldogs opened preseason practices on Tuesday.

MSU is slated to begin its season on Sept. 26 against LSU. The first home game of 2020 is scheduled for Oct. 3 against Arkansas.
