Police are investigating an alleged rape after arresting a Columbus man Friday.
Derrick Johnson, 42, is charged with statutory rape, according to a Columbus Police Department press release.
The press release disclosed no further information beyond Johnson’s arrest aside from noting the case involves a minor. Public Information Officer Cpl. Nick Hairston confirmed the victim is a 15-year-old.
Johnson remains in custody at Lowndes County Adult Detention Center awaiting his initial appearance in court. The investigation is ongoing.
