Nathaniel Watson, a senior linebacker on the Mississippi State football team, was arrested by MSU police Sunday night for an alleged DUI, according to an Okitibbeha County Sheriff’s Office arrest and booking log.
” We are aware of the matter and are continuing to gather information,” Mississippi State head coach Zach Arnott said in a statement. “We do not have further comment at this time.”
MSU Police Chief Communications Officer Sidney Salter declined to comment on details of Watson’s arrest Monday morning as the case remains under investigation.
Watson, a grad senior with one year of eligibility left, has played 44 games over his MSU career, tallying 237 tackles, 10 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble. His 113 tackles last season finished second in the Southeastern Conference, only behind fellow MSU linebacker Jett Johnson’s 115.
