Mississippi State football coach Mike Leach remains in critical condition at a hospital in Jackson, MSU Director of Public Affairs Sid Salter tweeted in a statement from the school Monday.
“Mike’s family is with him and appreciates the overwhelming expressions of love and support for the coach, but also requests that their family’s privacy be respected at this time,” the statement read.
Salter said the university had no more information on Leach’s condition.
Leach was taken to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson on Sunday after suffering a “personal health issue” at his home, MSU announced Sunday afternoon.
Defensive coordinator Zach Arnett was put in charge of the Mississippi State football team until Leach returns. The Bulldogs will continue practicing for the ReliaQuest Bowl against Illinois on Jan. 2 in Tampa, Florida.
Leach, 61, recently finished his third regular season in Starkville. He attended a private holiday party Saturday night in Starkville that a Dispatch reporter attended and did not appear to be suffering from health problems.
