Mississippi State secured its second commitment for the Class of 2024 on Monday as Chol Machot, a 7-foot center from Winston-Salem, N.C., announced he would be joining head coach Chris Jans and the Bulldogs next fall.
Machot, who took an unofficial visit to Starkville last week, On3 Sports reported, chose MSU over offers from Missouri, West Virginia, TCU and California, among others. The three-star prospect joins Dellquan Warren, a combo guard from Erie, Pa., in Jans’ incoming recruiting class.
“My life has truly changed so much in the last two years,” Machot wrote in a statement posted on X/Twitter. “I would like to thank all the coaches that have recruited me but I can only pick one. I will be committing to Coach Jans at Mississippi State University.”
Machot will join freshman Gai Chol and redshirt sophomore KeShawn Murphy in the post for the Bulldogs. Last year’s leading scorer and rebounder Tolu Smith, in his final year of eligibility, is expected to be out with a foot injury until mid-January, and Jimmy Bell Jr., a graduate transfer from West Virginia, will also be out of eligibility after this season.
