SCOOBA — East Mississippi Community College ace Trace Tingle was honored with the weekly Pitcher of the Week award from the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference for his work on the mound against No. 1-ranked East Central Community College.

The freshman lefty allowed just one unearned run and two hits in a complete-game performance for the Lions, defeating East Central 4-1 in Scooba. Tingle struck out nine ECCC batters in the Lions’ sole conference win so far this season.
Head coach Brett Kimbrell’s Lions team is 14-12 on the season and 1-5 in MACCC play after series losses to Mississippi Gulf Coast and Northeast Mississippi this week. Tingle took the mound again on Tuesday against Northeast, striking out three and allowing just two runs, but ultimately picked up his first loss as a starter as the Lions could only muster up a single run themselves.
EMCC will return to action on Saturday in a doubleheader against Hinds Community College in Scooba at 2 p.m.
Trio of Lions named to All-Conference basketball teams
Three East Mississippi Community College basketball players were given All-Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference honors this week, recognizing their play on the court for the 2024-25 campaign. Jones, a West Point native and Green Wave alumni, led the Lions on both ends of the floor this season. She averaged a

team-high 10.4 points per game and ranked fourth in the conference in steals with 77. Her average of 3.1 steals per game is the best record of any Lion since 2009.
Jones led the team in scoring on 11 outings this season and posted three 20-point games.

On the men’s team, Anderson and Lewis both averaged just over 15 points per game. Anderson posted five 20-point games and averaged 4.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
Lewis, a former Class 5A state champion at Canton High School, led the team with seven 20-point games this season, including a season-high 31-point performance in an 80-53 win over Northwest Mississippi in January.
