LOS ANGELES, Cal. — Former Mississippi State soccer player Hannah Johnson signed a professional deal this week after earning a roster spot with National Women’s Soccer League club Angel City FC. Johnson is the fourth Bulldog from the historic 2024 soccer team to go pro since December and joins former Bulldog captain Macey Hodge in the Angel City midfield.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the club,” Johnson said in a university press release. “This is the best environment I’ve ever trained in. I couldn’t imagine a better group of players to compete with and learn from every day. Being in Coachella Valley and seeing the fans’ insane support has also been amazing to see. I’ve worked really hard for this opportunity, and it’s all paying off, so I’m excited to keep learning.”
Johnson played in 21 games as a senior, helping the Bulldogs win their first ever Southeastern Conference regular season title. She scored three goals and provided nine assists, including memorable passes for game-winning goals against Tennessee and Washington in postseason play. The performance against the Vols helped her earn a 2024 SEC All-Tournament Team selection.
“Words can’t describe how happy and excited I am for Hannah,” Bulldogs head coach Nick Zimmerman said. “She has worked extremely hard to earn this moment, and there is not a better feeling for a coach than to see it all pay off.”
Angel City FC’s season kicks off against San Diego Wave FC at 5:50 p.m. on March 16.
