Mississippi State football’s first game week of 2023 did not begin with good news.
Jay Lindsey, a 2024 three-star tight end, decommitted from the Bulldogs late Saturday night, announcing his decision over social media.
Lindsey, from Butler, Alabama, had been committed to MSU since April 16. He received an offer from the Crimson Tide this summer on June 15.
Lindsey, rated as the 971st best prospect in the 2024 class buy 247sports Composite, was MSU’s lone tight end commit in Zach Arnett’s first recruiting cycle, which is now down 15 commits and rated 13th in the Southeastern Conference, only ahead of Missouri and Kentucky.
The Bulldogs open the 2023 season this Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium against Southeastern Louisiana (3 p.m./SECN).
