Mississippi State football has its first 2024 commit and it will add another face to what is already a loaded quarterback room.
Four-star Josh Flowers announced Wednesday night on Twitter his verbal commitment to the Bulldogs.
The 6-2, 205-pound junior is from Mobile, Alabama, and plays for Baker High School. He is a dual-threat and has shown it for the past two seasons with the Hornets, throwing for 1,453 yards and 10 touchdowns while rushing for 1,367 yards and 15 touchdowns last season alone.
All told, he’s thrown for nearly 3,500 yards and rushed for more than 2,200 yards in two seasons on varsity, accounting for 57 total touchdowns.
Flowers, according to 247Sports, is the No. 21 quarterback in the 2024 class, the No. 19 recruit in Alabama and the No. 323 recruit nationally.
He’s the first recruit that new offensive coordinator Kevin Barbay has helped bring to Starkville as Flowers chose the Bulldogs over a number of other SEC programs including Alabama, Arkansas and Florida.
