OXFORD – For the second straight year, Ole Miss will not be holding the Grove Bowl.
Ole Miss announced Tuesday its spring practices will culminate with Meet The Rebels Day on April 12 rather than a spring game. Practices last year concluded with the Grove Bowl Games, a collection of activities and mini-games the team took part in. This year’s spring practices begin March 18.
“In keeping with our program’s pro mindset, we are taking a business-like approach with our spring drills with the focus of improving as a team,” Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin said in a statement. “After careful thought including the timing of other spring events, we determined it was best not to hold a spring game. We look forward to hosting a fan day for the Ole Miss family to engage with our players on a personal level.”
Ole Miss last held Meet The Rebels in 2019. Per a press release, fans will be able to get autographs from players and ask players and coaches questions in a Q&A. Admission will be free.
Several programs around the country have recently announced they will not be holding spring games, including USC, Texas and Florida State.
