The East Mississippi Community College men’s basketball team beat Itawamba Community College in overtime Thursday in Scooba, while the EMCC women fell to ICC in Fulton.
Blake Butler hit a 3-pointer with 4.7 seconds left to send the Lions and Indians to an extra period, and EMCC came out on top 86-83. Butler and Hunter McCutcheon each finished with 20 points to lead the Lions (6-3).
Traemond Pittman added 18 points for EMCC. Jakorie Smith had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Nick Walker had 10 points and nine rebounds.
The men’s team travels to Southwest Mississippi Community College for a 2 p.m. Saturday tip in Summit.
The EMCC women (3-2) went into halftime in Fulton leading 40-38 on a Shakira Austin halfcourt shot at the buzzer. But the Indians pulled away for a 73-68 win.
The Lions will host Northeast Mississippi Community College at 6 p.m. Monday.
