SCOOBA — East Mississippi Community College was selected to host this month’s Mississippi High School Activities Association Middle School Basketball Invitational, a weekend tournament that began Jan. 17 and will conclude on Feb. 1 with girls and boys championship games at The Keyes T. Currie Coliseum in Scooba.
Teams from across the state are competing in the invitational at the campuses of Itawamba, Delta, Holmes, East Central, Hinds, Southwest, Northeast, Jones and Meridian Community Colleges.
This weekend, the Armstrong Middle School girls’ and boys’ basketball teams, the only remaining area teams, will participate in the third round of the tournament. On Friday, they will face off with South Pontotoc and Tupelo, respectively, at EMCC.
The tournament Final Four will begin at 5 p.m. on Jan. 31, with the championship games set for Saturday afternoon.
