CALEDONIA — Tuesday night was nothing short of chaotic for Caledonia baseball.
History was made for the Cavaliers, but in one of the strangest ways possible as they tossed a no-hitter in non-district play against Fayette County (Alabama), winning 9-8.
You did not read that score incorrectly.
Caledonia, despite 11 hits and nine runs scored offensively, managed just a one-run win.
The Cavaliers’ (8-1) pitching staff walked 15 Tiger hitters in the win as Caledonia’s defense committed four errors overall. Just four of Fayette County’s eight runs were earned in the loss.
Offensively, Cooper Bates and Nicholas Wade led the charge, with Bates going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, and Wade going 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored.
Tuesday’s win increased Caledonia’s current winning streak to four games, heading Northeast Mississippi Community College for a pair of games on Thursday against West Union and Pontotoc.
