Another Southeastern Conference series has passed and the Mississippi State softball team was swept again.
The Bulldogs (24-22, 3-14 SEC) saw their fourth-straight conference set end without a victory following Sunday afternoon’s 8-0, six-inning loss at No. 15 LSU, which extended their SEC losing streak to 14 games. MSU has been shutout six times during that span.
The Bulldogs managed just two hits in the series finale, one by Chloe Malau’ulu and the other by Riley Hull, as LSU’s Ali Kilponen struck out eight and allowed one walk in a six-inning shutout.
The Tigers (37-11, 10-8 SEC) scored two runs in the first inning, two in the third and completed their run-rule victory with four runs in the sixth.
Georgia Clark led LSU with four RBIs, three of which came on a three-run home run in the sixth inning.
MSU will play its final home series next weekend against No. 20 Kentucky.
