Mississippi State football’s recruiting momentum is still strong after the Bulldogs secured a commitment from in-state running back Xavier Gayten Wednesday afternoon when he announced his decision over his Twitter page.
Gayten, from Brookhaven High School in Mississippi, is unranked, according to 247sports Composite.
He picked the Bulldogs over Ole Miss, Southern Mississippi and Prairie View A&M.
Gayten, listed at 6-foot, 190 pounds, is the fourth commit MSU has secured in its 2024 class during June. Along with Gayten, four-star defensive lineman Terrance Hibbler, three-star offensive lineman Luke Work and three-star linebacker, and former Ole Miss commit, Fred Clark also announced their intentions to play college football in Starkville.
MSU’s 2024 class, which ranked 28th in college football ahead of Gayten’s commitment, also includes four-star quarterback Josh Flowers, and three-stars TJ Lockhart (OT), Caleb Dozier (LB), Matt Mayfield (WR), and Jay Lindsey (TE).
