STARKVILLE — Junior guard Bre’Amber Scott announced Monday afternoon via Twitter that she has officially left the Mississippi State women’s basketball program.
Scott, who appeared in all 35 games for the Bulldogs last season, averaged 7.1 points, 0.9 assists and 1.5 rebounds per game as a sophomore. She also served as a capable 3-point shooter in the wake of Chloe Bibby’s season ending knee injury — converting 42.9 percent of her attempts.
Needing to replace three starters from last year’s squad, coach Vic Schafer signed three freshmen guards in five-star recruit Aliyah Matharu and four-star prospects JaMya Mingo-Young and Jayla Hemingway.
With graduate student Jordan Danberry — MSU’s lone returning starter — Andra Espinoza-Hunter, Myah Taylor and Xaria Wiggins also in the fold at guard, extensive playing time figured to be limited for Scott this season.
