Dislikes back-and-forth attacks on opinion page

I enjoy reading the opinion pages on a regular basis in the St. Louis Post- Dispatch, the Wall Street Journal, and the Columbus Dispatch. That said, the latter’s opinion page is becoming more and more painful to read over the past few months, in my opinion. Free speech is perhaps our greatest gift from our country’s founding fathers. We should all enjoy it responsibly instead of sounding like angry pre-schoolers arguing over who found the metal cymbals first. Why must our fellow citizens hurl tit-for-tats at each other for being Democrat, Republican,conservative,progressive,black, or white? After all , like it or not, we share more similarities than differences. When I read all these dueling tit- for- tats I recall what my mother taught me so many years ago. “Empty barrels make the most noise”. Think about it. And Happy Mother’s Day to my mom in the clouds and to all the mothers who read the opinion page.
