Lord have mercy on me is a short prayer we can pray when faced with unexpected situations, such as a car accident, surgery or the birth of a child coming before the due date. “Turn to me and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name.” (Psalm 119:132) NIV

Sometimes we feel like God is not hearing us when we pray because He hasn’t answered our prayers. Therefore, we have to keep crying out to Him for mercy. “Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.” (Psalm 27:7) KJV

Some sicknesses we go through can be so painful until it seems like we can’t get any relief. That’s when we have to ask the Lord for His mercy to heal us. “Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, heal me; for my bones are vexed.” (Psalm 6:2) KJV

The loss of a loved one or close friend can be so hard for us to deal with. We find ourselves grieving all the time. In moments such as these, we have to ask the Lord to have mercy on us in our time of grief. “Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am in distress. My eye, my soul, and my body waste away with grief.” (Psalm 31:9) KJV

Lately, there has been a lot of gun violence going on in our communities and surrounding areas. However, we don’t have to be afraid; we can just ask the Lord to have mercy on us, and He will keep us safe. “Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by.” (Psalm 57:1) NLT

From time to time, we sin against God. Nevertheless, when we sin we need to be like David and say, “Have Mercy upon me, O God, according to thy loving kindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.” (Psalm 51:1) KJV

When we’re overwhelmed with problems, we lose focus on what to say in prayer or where to even begin. During times like these, we have to realize the Lord is our Helper and He will help us. “Hear, O Lord and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou my helper.” (Psalm 30:10) KJV

So be encouraged today and always remember: In times such as these, we have to continue to call on the Lord all through the day, asking Him to have mercy on us. “Have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long.” (Psalm 86:3) NIV
