While reading 99-year-old Mr. Edwin Humphries’ letter to the editor titled “A revelation in life,” I was reminded of a poem written long back by a Bengali poet:
Where is heaven, where is hell, who says it is far away?
Heaven is hell among humans, – a curse among humans!
Whenever my conscience gets tired of being chased by the devil,
Then the hell of self-loathing burns.
When the virtues of love and affection are intertwined,
Then heaven comes and stands in our hut.
I wish record breaking longevity for Mr. Humphries.
