Most of the things that President Trump has done that I find outrageous he has done in the name of national security. In my view, there was no actual national security issue involved, but that was the claim. There have been two kinds of outrageous actions—those designed to improperly extend his power, usually involving abrogation of civil rights, and those designed to enrich the Trump family.
As we all know, a UAE government (Abu Dhabi) recently bought $2 billion worth of cryptocurrency, directly enriching the Trump family. Within weeks we sold computer chips to them in violation of our own national security rules. Qatar gifted the administration with a four-billion-dollar golden jet. In return, we will train Qatari pilots on Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho to fly the planes we sold them. We will train them on America soil. The American airbase in Qatar, Centcom, could do this training. This training will help them defend against their enemies.
The only enemy Qatar has is Israel. Qatar has spent billions supporting anti-Israel activity, including funding Hamas and Hezbollah. They also support the Houthis and ISIS. The Aal Thani family who runs Qatar would probably lose their power but for US support, so they owe us, not we them.
Qatar has shown by their actions that they actually hate America. Speaker Johnson described the upcoming No Kings Day protests as the “Hate America Rally,” drawing out the “pro-Hamas wing” and the “antifa people.” This while trying desperately to help create a king – who is sucking up to Qatar. The contrast makes his speech all the more vile.
